"Hi , I am Baishali Ghosh , Breast Cancer Hub – India Ambassador-Silchar. I took an interview of my grandmother, Maya Gope, being blessed to be a breast cancer survivor, she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 55 during 2012. In 2011, she felt small beads on her left breast. Gradually, the small beads turned into a tumour. At first, she consulted a homeopathy doctor and took medication for a year, after that the beads turned into an big ping pong ball. One day, while doing her households works, she saw some blackish dead blood rolling on her left hand and the breast turned into a red tomato. Then she consulted with her family (husband), and her family supported her and took her to a renowned gynaecologist Dr. Sarmistha Bhattacharya, then she immediately advised her to consult Surgeon, Dr Lakhan Das. At that time Dr . Das was unavailable and then another renowned doctor of this region, Dr Arijit examined and said it was Cancer. After hearing she started shivering and somehow her family managed to visit doctor and undergo some test and biopsy. Report came out to be a massive infection. Then she was taken to Kolkata and underwent an operation. After 3 months she was handed over to Silchar Cancer Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Ravi Kannan. By the bless of Almighty now she is well and good at the age of 64 years. Thank you Breast Cancer Hub for taking your time and sharing her story . The only thing she has suggested is to break the taboos and stigma about breast cancer and do regular check-up and follow-up . GOD BLESS ALL. Thank you."

A big thank you to Mrs Maya Gope for sharing her story with us and immensely thankful to Ms Baishali Ghosh for conducting the interview.
