Freelance Genetic Counselor

I have completed my MS in Biomedical Genetic with Genetic Counseling. Previously, I have interned at the TATA Memorial Hospital and Research Centre. My dissertation topic was "Risk assessment and psycho-social evaluation of cancer patient at a Hereditary Cancer Genetics Clinic". My upbringing and experience till date has only made me realize the importance of empathy and being kind to everyone we meet on daily basis. I had the privilege of choosing such a niche field as my career path and I wish to utilize every opportunity which comes my way. I am passionate about the field of Genetic Counseling and wish to make this field more accessible to each an ever individual in need. I wish to uphold the four pillars of Genetic Counseling and deliver a service which is judicious, beneficial and non-discriminatory towards each and every individual I interact with in professional as well as non-professional setting.

Mission Statement:

As a Genetic Counselor and having worked in a Cancer Clinic, I have realized the importance of patient advocacy and how important it is to safe guard the patient autonomy while treating, administering or counseling them with regard to their cancer. I wish to be an advocate for patients and assist them in making a well informed, aware and consented decision regarding their treatment and several other aspects pertaining to their diagnosis.Through my work at BCH, I will challenge taboos and stigmas existing in the Indian Society and spread awareness about the same in the society. I will educate the patient and be there for them as an emotional support when ever they need me. I will safe guard their autonomy and make sure their dignity is protected throughout the process. I wish to deliver a service which is enlightening, empowering and educating.
